When you are going on a long journey, the first thing that parents usually do is cut back on sugar to help their kids stay still in the car. Sugar can also cause a lot of long term health problems and can even affect the way you live. If you have a family then it is time to start banning the overuse of sugar and to start informing everyone early on of all the harm that sugar can cause. Each person shouldn’t consume more than a certain amount of sugar a day to help optimize their health and to fight the signs of aging.
How sugar is harming your body
Obesity, heart problems and diabetes – It is a commonly known fact that sugar is bad for people who struggle with obesity and diabetes since their bodies simply cannot deal with the high level of glucose. Sugar can be fatal for diabetics and can cause those who suffer from obesity to gain weight dramatically. It also greatly affects your heart since sugar causes your blood pressure to spike and slow depending on the rush.
Accelerates aging – Sagging skin is a huge tell tale of too much sugar intake. Sugar attaches itself to the proteins in your body. During this glycation process, your body loses the elasticity in aging body tissue. The more sugar you consume, the faster you will see the effects of aging.
Tooth decay – Moms of babies have to be especially careful about sugar intake because a bottle results in lingering sugar in the mouth which can damage those new teeth before they even surface. If your child’s teeth have to be pulled as a result of decay, they will only start to grow their permanent teeth when they are about seven years old which can make eating extremely difficult during those times.
Behavioral problems – Sugar and artificial sweeteners can cause kids to act completely different. While some kids will have spiked energy levels others can even start acting completely erratic. The flavorings and sweeteners cause them to feel agitated which leads to anger tantrums.
Increases stress – When your body’s blood sugar level drops, your body will release stress hormones to make you feel hungry so you can compensate for the low sugar level naturally. After consuming a lot of sugar, your body will reach a high and then your blood sugar levels will start to drop when the sugar is worked out. This drop in sugar levels causes your body to once again release stress hormones. This is also why so many people get addicted to sugar when they want to control their stress.
It can be tough to reduce sugar intake when everyone has a sweet tooth but with gradual reduction of sugar, your family will not only be healthier but they might even be happier since stress levels will be much lower. Eating less sugar also helps you appreciate natural sugars in fruit more and you can finally taste just how sweet life can be.…Read More
